As the surfers dip their boards under the waves, the racers bring their bikes to the start line and the bands get in front of the mic, the 2nd Annual Moto Beach Classic and Surf City Blitz kicks off! For the second year in a row, the sand in Southern California is taken over by tens of thousands of spectators to watch the WCBR Surf Competitors shred the waves while the sound of the big RSD Super Hooligan V-Twin engines roar around the dirt track to the soundtrack of the legends of Punk Rock such as Pennywise, Offspring and Social Distortion.
The Roland Sands crew took an already amazing event that shook the grounds in 2017 at Bolsa Chica State Beach and stepped up in 2018 with a track on the sand in Huntington Beach for the final round of the RSD Super Hooligan National Championship. The feeling in the salty air was truly a SoCal vibe that brought kids to grandparents totalling over 20,000 visitors per day out to see the sun set over an incredible weekend on the sand.
The excitement from the dirt track was not the only racing to be found, BMW hosted the Salty Sprint races giving racers a chance to hop on some BMW R Nine-Ts and wait for the rag to hit the ground before ripping down the 400 foot line to the checkered flag. Local Kevin Duke took the Bell #1 Helmet as a prize for being the fastest.
If getting sideways was what you wanted to see, Del Amo Motorsports hosted the Kawasaki Z125 Gymkhana race where Nicky Rymer took the trophy.
Bell Helmets hosted the stunt show where big bikes got their front wheel at 12 o’clock and shredded endless tires in a plume of smoke while spectators shouted for more.
Hurley hosted WCBR surf competition tied in with a Surf & Turf flat track race where Huntington Beach Justin Mulford came out on top.
As the sun set on Saturday the Super Hooligan National Championship by Indian Motorcycles finale began. Andy DiBrino was eager to hold his title and the number 1 plate but Jordan Baber, Brad Spencer, Frankie Garcia and Jordan Graham made him sweat a bit. Jordan Graham came out with the Law Tigers Crash of the Day after being knocked out cold on the track, but got up and signed the medical release waiver he finished the race in 9th. Baber put in a solid effort for his first win of the season on Saturday night and AFT Pro Kayl Kolkman finshed 3rd. Spencer got 4th and Garica finished 8th keeping him in the hunt for an overall podium spot.

When the sun came up on Sunday and the adrenaline finally drained from everyone’s system the top two spots in the 2018 SHNC were locked in. Andy Dibrino is the back-to-back Champion and Jordan Baber locked in second place. Trust us, that didn’t slow anything down on the track. Third through sixth were up for grabs. Jordan Graham had to pullout of racing Sunday from a concussion & separated shoulder from the night before. Unfortunately that cost him his overall podium spot as the points were that close. Brad Spencer, Frankie Garcia and Mikey ‘Virus’ Hill all had a chance to get that 3rd overall spot. Dibrino & Baber not letting off the gas even though they could have been sitting on the sidelines and watched with a cold one both qualified on the front row for the main along with Spencer & Garcia.
As the second lap was just about to be completed on the main event, Andy Dibrino was battling Brad Spencer for first he bumped Spencer’s back tire trying to stand him up but got tossed from his bike. His foot ended up getting stuck between his rear wheel and shock at the same time trying to protect, a soon to be discovered, separated shoulder and two fractures of his humerus bone.
“I definitely was laying it all on the table in that final race, and unfortunately just caught traction mid-slide exiting the final turn next to Brad and it made my bike wheelie straight in the back of Brad’s bike, flipping me over. I wanted the win! But I’m happy that I didn’t get hit by any of the racers, and hopefully I’ll be healed up before the new year. I dislocated my shoulder and broke my humerus in 2 places.”
After the red flag restart Kayl Kolkman and Frankie Garcia battled with Spencer for the remaining 8 laps. Spencer got the win with Kolkman & Garcia rounding out the top three.
With DiBrino’s Sunday night Dunlop Dash for Cash, K&N Hole Shot, and Law Tigers Crash of the Day win, he is the first official winner of the newly named and well earned DiBrino Hat Trick. A total bragging rights award.
DiBrino kept his #1 Super Hooligan National Championship plate, earning $2,500 from Bell Helmets and a RSD Custom designed Indian FTR 1200 motorcycle, if that is not Punk Rock, we don’t know what is.

The inaugural Moto Beach Classic started out as a wild idea from the mind of Roland Sands and crew and developed into a Southern California motorcycle cultural explosion. This year’s event promises everything from last year and so much more as we join forces with the Surf City Blitz with one of the greatest punk rock lineups in So Cal history.
This new two day weekend destination festival features Super Hooligan National Championship presented by Indian Motorcycles season finale taking 100+ Hooligan riders racing on the beach, BMW Salty Sprint Races, Dunlop’s Stacyc Kids course, Bell Helmets Stunt Show, Moto Classic Bike show by Vance & Hines, Architects of Inspiration Art Show presented by Husqvarna and epic vendor village, all accompanied by the biggest bands in OC punk history – The Offspring, Social Distortion, Pennywise, Rancid, Suicidal Tendencies, Bad Religion, FEAR, TSOL and many more performing on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in picturesque Huntington State Beach.
The Super Hooligans hit the sand for a double header weekend of flat track racing on the beach. The final round of the SHNC Championship will bring out the fastest hooligan riders in the country, as well as the guys just looking to have fun in front of their friends and family. This year well bring a kids class, Degenerate Choppers, Costume Run Whatcha brung and a few more surprises.

The core of the event are the race pits, with over 100 hooligans, veterans and professional racers from across the nation orchestrated into a compact carnival. Recognizable by their multi-colored pop-up tents, teams will bring makes and models of almost every motorcycle out there ranging from antique hand shift Indians and Harleys, to modern Ducati’s & Triumphs.
The Lot presented by GEICO is a free, open to the public, motorcycle entertainment hub located along the entry of the Surf City Blitz and parallel to the heavily trafficked HB bike path. The BMW Salty Sprint Races, Bell Helmet Stunt Show, Kawasaki Mini Road Race and Dunlop Kids Stacyc Demo Course are all located on the asphalt amidst the major manufacturers, industry icons and motorcycle vendors. Every ticket holder will be guided to walk through The Lot as well as non-ticketed beach goers, motorcycle enthusiasts and curious onlookers. This vendor area will open up earlier than the festival at 11am and will close early at approximately 6pm.

No moto-centric event would be complete without a custom bike show. Motorcycling is and has always been a culture of creativity, engineering and customization, and providing a forum for the industries best and brightest builders to show off their latest rolling art pieces is not only a unique attraction, but also provides a crucial element to the Moto Beach Classic. Fueled by mother nature, the WCBR and SOKFY will be ripping the waves out front of Surf City Blitz with an entertaining crew of enthusiastic admirers Saturday from 8am – 4pm .
Spin some laps on STACYC electric bikes & Strider Balance Bikes in a low speed & safe environment. Bike demo's for kids go from 11am - 3pm in the Free to the Public Competition area.
The Mini Road Race will take part at the end of the sprint race course giving qualified kids and adults the chance to rip up the asphalt on small CC bikes capable of insane lean angles and rapid speeds.
